Introduction Ever since the Fall we have been unable to physically restore our Eden experience on our own. Nor could we fix the mistake that Adam started with either good living or hard work. No council could be gathered, no theologian could negotiate their way out of our deserving judgment. We were indebted with total sin, unable to choose good from bad running around since birth with no clue as to who are or what was in us. It could be described as lost, death and blind sheep aimlessly moving about. But is that the case? Are we helpless to flesh and depraved as normal human beings? Depraved seems like such a grave condition for such an advanced race of people who have achieved so many great things. The easiest response would be my ignorance of the subject matter and my perceived impact of this material on ministry. This topic makes think of questions such as; is there hope for someone who doesn’t know God? And what happens to those who have not yet experience God prior to death? With that said, will everyone have a chance to experience God? How could a God who is so loving and caring allow the unlearned to succumb to the excruciating heat of hell? The God who tells me that He would, uphold you with my righteous right hand, (Isa 41:10) yet allow a non-believer who has been unable to meet him fail. What about my free will and does it exist? It makes me think of a Martin Luther King quote that says, The time is always right to do what is right. (King Jr.) Well Dr. King, But is this a true statement? These are the thoughts that come to mind when deciding to choose this topic and it should be noted that I want to believe i n total depravity, however, I am not convinced in its complete application as defined by the majority of Calvinist supporters.
